Evo-Stik NPL Fair Play Awards

Neil Tooth’s Sutton Coldfield Town headed into the run-in among the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League’s promotion-chasers after becoming the latest club to be rewarded for winning the right way.

Tooth, along with Royals Secretary Neil Murrall, is pictured being presented with January’s Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South Fair Play Award from League Representative John Beaumont at Coles Lane before their 2-1 win over play-off rivals Scarborough Athletic last month.

Like all winners of the monthly behaviour awards to promote sportsmanship, the winners receive an inscribed certificate recording their achievement and a bottle of Pol Roger champagne.

To qualify for the monthly fair play accolades, run as part of the Evo-Stik NPL’s successful backing for the FA’s Respect campaign, clubs must play a minimum of four league games with one point awarded for a caution and three for a dismissal. In the event of a tie, technical area points are used. If still tied, the disciplinary records in external cup games are taken into account.

Sutton Coldfield Town recorded an average of 0.50 in January with just two cautions from four games to take the First Division South accolade.

Cammell Laird were named as the best behaved side in First Division North with four yellows from four games to post a disciplinary average of 1.00.

In the Premier Division North, Witton Albion topped the division’s fair play table and were the best behaved side across all three divisions after collecting just one caution in four outings to post an average of 0.25.

In the overall rankings after January’s records were taken into account, Skelmersdale United led the Premier Division table with Ossett Town heading First Division North and Brigg Town topping the First Division South table.
