Royle recognition for league's stars of the season

Former Everton, Manchester City and Oldham Athletic manager Joe Royle lit up the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League 2013-14 Players of the Year Awards on Sunday night.

The 64-year-old former England striker is pictured on stage at the four star Brooklands Holiday Inn near Barnsley with this season's top individual stars, the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year in each of the Evo-Stik NPL's three divisions, as voted for by their managers and coaches in a secret ballot.

Pictured left to right are Leek Town's Jordan Johnson and John Johnston, former Skelmersdale United star Matty Hughes, Ramsbottom United's Phil Dean and Worskop Town's Leon Mettam.

Darlington's Stephen Thompson, the First Division North Player of the Year and the NPL Facebook Group's Fans' Player of the Year, missed the event because of a late work commitment.
