Runcorn bid farewell to long serving defender

Runcorn Linnets have confirmed defender Ally Brown has left the club after four years.

During that time, Brown made 137 appearances for the Yellows, scoring five goals. He enjoyed his best goal-scoring return for the club this year, with four goals.

His final goal came in a 2-1 victory over Trafford. It was one of those rare occasions when two defenders were on the scoresheet, as Sam Heathcote scored as well.

He has also represented Trafford, Warrington Town, Radcliffe, Chorley, Droylsden and Witton Albion.

Writing a farewell message on Twitter, Brown paid tribute to the club, and all those who help run it.

“137 games, over 4 years, my time @RuncornLinnets [sic] has ended.

“To the players, wouldn’t have been anything without you all, thanks to the board, volunteers, sponsors for driving the club forward and finally the supporters for creating wonderful moments.”
