Saturday's clash live on radio

Saturday's Evo-Stik Northern Premier League clash between Cammell Laird and New Mills is being broadcast live on 7 Waves Radio.

The Wirral-based community station has been broadcasting exclusively from Kirklands on 92.1fm and the internet throughout the season. This weekend's Evo-Stik NPL First Division North fixture will be the ninth time they've covered the club's campaign with a live broadcast as part of a season long 'trial'.

Lairds Press Officer Phill Wilkinson teamed up with the sports team at 7 Waves Radio as a co-commentator and reckons it has been a great hit with fans.

Wilkinson, who hopes the station will return again for the new campaign come August, said: "This has been a fantastic experience for myself and would like to think it has boosted the club's morale and maybe played a small part in the turn of fortune for the club.

"The Cammells were expected to finish bottom of the league but we have seen great cup runs and a great run in the league. It's been a wonderful journey and one I hope ends with everybody smiling come May."
