Curzon Ashton can almost taste the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division North title champagne after Saturday`s 3-0 win at Parkside against Kendal Town saw them remain eleven points clear at the top with two games in hand over their second and third-placed rivals, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Niall Cummins gave Curzon the lead a couple of minutes before half-time and then added a second just past the hour-mark, with Ryan Brooke wrapping things up with a third on 63 minutes.

Darlington 1883 remain second after a 2-1 win at Ingfield against Ossett Town where Iain Ward put the Quakers in front after 28 minutes. Terry Galbraith added a second five minutes later and they held firm, despite Nick Wood`s 76th minute reply.

Warrington Town are third, three points adrift of Darlo and six in front of sixth-placed Lancaster City.

The Wire though were held to a 2-2 draw at Seel Park by Mossley AFC, who fell behind to a 65th minute Ciaran Kilheeney effort before levelling through Brian Matthews in the 77th minute. Craig Robinson looked to have won it for Warrington when he made it 2-1 with seven minutes to go, only for John Bennett to respond for the Lilywhites a couple of minutes from time.

Ramsbottom United and Bamber Bridge currently occupy the two other play-off places, with Lancaster and Farsley AFC close behind.

Rammie had to be content with a point from a 1-1 draw at Burscough, whose new signing Jack Laird rescued his team with a stoppage time equaliser after Phil Dean had given the home side a 63rd minute lead.

Brig won the Lancashire derby `six-pointer` with City 2-0 at the Giant Axe, with goals from Chris Marlow right on half-time and Alex Taylor with 13 minutes to go.

Farsley suffered a surprise 3-2 defeat at Throstle Nest to a still celebrating Salford City side, buoyed by the imminent takeover by the Manchester United legends.

Adam Priestley certainly gave the home side a good start with a goal inside three minutes, but the Ammies responded with goals from Rob Kinsella after 18 minutes, a Priestley own goal on 61 minutes and Jamie Rother two minutes later. And they clung on, despite Aiden Savory`s goal 18 minutes from time.

Bottom-markers Ossett Albion are still alive and kicking after a 1-0 win at Kirklands against Cammell Laird, courtesy of an 81st minute Scott Turner effort.

Second-bottom Wakefield picked up a point from a 1-1 draw at home against Northwich Victoria, whose Gary Burnett spoiled the Bears` day with a 90th minute equaliser after Rob Bordman`s 23rd minute opener – he has now scored 25 of Wakefield`s 52 goals!

Those results meant New Mills` 3-2 home defeat to fellow strugglers Padiham has put them right in trouble, just a point in front of Wakefield, although the Millers do possess four games in hand.

Kieron Pickup gave the Storks a 24th minute lead that Michael Fish cancelled out four minutes into the second half. Danny Hewitt then gave the Millers the lead on 65 minutes, only for Danny Boyle on 78 minutes and Luke Greaves in injury-time to win it for Padiham.

Radcliffe Borough and Prescot Cables are also far from safe, although the former earned a crucial 1-0 Stainton Park win over Clitheroe, thanks to Simon Carden`s 87th minute goal.

Cables went down to a home defeat to a similar scoreline against Harrogate Railway Athletic, for whom Dan Thirkill`s 11th minute effort proved enough.
