The Wire won 3-0 at Parkside against Kendal Town, thanks to goals from Ciaran Kilheeney after 33 minutes, Nathan Burke 15 minutes from time and then Ben Deegan in the 83rd minute.
Earlier leaders Northwich Victoria are third after a last-gasp stoppage time winner from Michael Roddy secured the points at Station View against Harrogate Railway Athletic.
Spennymoor Town and Brighouse complete the top five, with Moors winning 2-1 at Wincham Park against Witton Albion with another late effort.
Danny Frost put the visitors in front after 34 minutes but Danny Andrews` penalty 12 minutes from time looked to have earned Albion a point – until Chris Mason popped up with an 89th minute winner for the visitors.
Trafford are just outside the top five after a good 4-2 win at Clitheroe.

New Mills` search for that elusive first win of the season continues after they were beaten for the fourteenth time – 2-0 at Burscough – for whom Will Jones after 57 minutes and Michael Monaghan 16 minutes from the end were on the mark.
But second-bottom Droyslden ended a run of ten league games without a win by beating Prescot Cables by the odd goal in seven at the Butcher`s Arms.
And they had to come back from being a 13th minute James McCulloch goal down to win, with Steve Hall levelling on 36 minutes.
Rob Doran restored Cables` lead 10 minutes after the break, but two goals in a minute from Dominic Smith and James Hampson made it 3-2 to the home side. Smith added a second to make it 4-2 with Lloyd Dean ensuring a nervy finale with a third for the visitors in injury-time.
Scarborough Athletic`s struggles continue as they were beaten 2-1 at Stainton Park by Radcliffe Borough.
Nathan Peat`s penalty had Scarborough in front from the 21st minute. But Matthew Davies equalised just past the hour-mark and Richard Smith scored what proved to be Radcliffe`s winner with 13 minutes remaining.
Connor Brunt`s goal right on half-time eventually proved enough for Ossett Albion at Dimple Wells against Yorkshire neighbours Farsley Celtic but Albion`s close rivals Town suffered a best-of-five loss at the Giant Axe against Lancaster City.
The Dolly Blues were coasting to victory, thanks to goals from Aaron Taylor after six minutes and a Ryan Winder brace on 43 and 48 minutes. But goals in the final eight minutes from Nathan Curtis had the home side and their fans sweating.
Michael Fish after 20 minutes and Andy Keogh nine minutes into the second half sealed Mossley AFC`s Seel Park win over Bamber Bridge, for whom Danny Mahoney replied 16 minutes from time.
