The Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South fixture list was especially badly hit with only two games surviving the wet on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.
Sutton Coldfield Town moved level on points with second-placed Stamford AFC and eight behind leaders Coalville Town after edging out Kidsgrove Athletic by the odd goal in seven on the 3G at Coles Lane.
Well-travelled striker Mark Danks gave the Royals the lead on 17 minutes, but it was Kidsgrove who went into half-time ahead after a brace in four minutes midway through the half from Andy Kinsey.
Dan Skelton made it 3-1 just six minutes after the restart before Jamie Sheldon reduced the deficit five minutes later. Danks equalised with his second of the game with 20 minutes remaining but look Luke Chapman won it for the home side on 81 minutes.
There was a stunning finale in the other game to survive the weather at the Hawthorns as Brigg Town scored two goals in the final minutes to come from behind to beat Rainworth Miners Welfare 3-2.
Paul Grimes second goal of the match had levelled things up at 2-2 on 89 minutes before Liam Davis' close range header five minutes into time added on snatched all three points for the Zebras. Ryan Goward after seven minutes and Kieran Walker on 70 were on the mark for the Wrens.
The victory extends Brigg's unbeaten run to six matches and moves the team up to eighth place in the table as 2012 draws to a close.
