Saturday's Premier Division action review

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division

On another Saturday when the majority of the fixtures in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division were hit by the wet weather, North Ferriby United moved four points clear at the top of the table after hammering bottom side Eastwood Town 5-0 at Coronation Park, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

It was scant reward for the Badgers managing to be one of only four clubs to get their game on. Ferriby showed no mercy though, taking the lead on 10 minutes through Ryan Williams and doubling that nine minutes later, courtesy of Chris Bolder.

Ryan Kendall eventually added a third after 63 minutes to make sure of the points for the leaders and he scored again in stoppage time after Ryan Williams had sandwiched a fourth on 82 minutes.

Worksop Town moved into fourth place in the table after a 6-1 drubbing of Matlock Town at Sandy Lane, despite finishing the game with ten-men.

The game was effectively over after 26 minutes with the Tigers leading 5-0 after goals from Luke Shiels on six minutes, Ashley Burbeary, who netted a hat-trick on eight, 17 and 19 minutes, the final strike from the penalty spot, and then Leon Mettam.

Stuart Ludlum was sent-off for the Tigers just before half-time and Matlock pulled a goal back through Lewis McMahon on 52 minutes. But the ten-men completed a remarkable win with Tom Denton's header after 67 minutes.

Chorley's play-off dreams are looking slimmer by the day after they were beaten by the odd goal in five at Victory Park by struggling Whitby Town.

Craig Farrell gave the Seasiders a great start with a goal inside the opening five minutes. And it got better for Darren Williams' side when Graeme Armstrong doubled their advantage on 39 minutes.

The Magpies reduced the arrears right on half-time through Darren Stephenson, but Shane Henry's thunderbolt made it 3-1 to the visitors 19 minutes from time. Porya Ahmadi's second goal for the hosts on 89 minutes made it a rather nervy finale.

The other game to survive on Saturday saw Frickley Athletic pull further away from the drop zone and increase Kendal Town's relegation worries with a 2-1 win at Westfield Lane.

The Blues had to come back from going behind on 28 minutes to a Maison McGeechan goal to win. Gavin Allott, from the spot four minutes later and Jake Picton's winner on 66 minutes, completed the turnaround.
