Romulus, Leek Town and Goole AFC remain unbeaten in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division South following Saturday's action, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Roms won 4-2 at Coles Lane against new boys Scarborough Athletic, taking a 15th minute lead through Luke Keen. The prolific ex-North Ferriby United striker Gary Bradshaw equalised just before half-time but a Marcus Brown brace on 54 and 70 minutes, plus a fourth from Tyrone Amory, reduced Paul Foot's last-minute reply as nothing more than a consolation for the visitors.

Leek hammered Lincoln United 5-1 on their own Ashby Avenue patch. It was all over bar the shouting by half-time as Leek led 4-0 with goals from Ryan Dicker, Mitch Husbands and a Jordan Johnson double. A Sean Wright own goal made it a nap hand just after the break, with Sam Triffitt netting a consolation for the shattered home side on 65 minutes.

Goole, however, had to be content with a third draw of the season, with both goals at Kidsgrove Athletic coming within a minute – Brice Tiani giving the Vikings a 63rd minute lead and Tom Unwin levelling.

In contrast, Brigg Town are yet to pick up a point and Saturday saw them lose 2-1 at the Hawthorns to Mickleover Sports, despite taking an early third minute lead from a Paul Grimes penalty. Karl Demidh equalised on the half-hour mark and then Will McGhie won it 10 minutes from time.

Carlton Town are third, but suffered a 5-0 mauling at last season's long-time leaders, Coalville Town – this being the Nottinghamshire side's first defeat. The overnight leaders fell a Jordan Hempenstall goal behind on the half-hour mark and then Kevin Charley doubled the home side`s lead just after half-time. Hempenstall added a third on 58 minutes and then Anthony Carney on 63 minutes and Reece Lester 11 minutes from the end made it 5-0.

Eastwood Town and Chasetown shared a goalless Coronation Park draw. The same outcome looked likely at the Moat where Gresley FC were hosting Loughborough Dynamo until the visitors' Ryan Tinsley popped up with a stoppage time winner.

There was only one goal too at the Oval where Halesowen Town's highly-rated striker Ben Haseley's 66th minute effort eventually proved enough against Bedworth United.

Sheffield FC attracted the biggest attendance in the division – 339 – and they saw the hosts beat Market Drayton Town 3-1, coming back from being a fourth minute Yannick Makota goal down to win with second half strikes from Andy Gascoigne, Mark Fereday and Zeph Thomas.

Newcastle Town edged out Rainworth Miners Welfare 2-1 at the Lyme Valley Stadium with Alan Nagington on 13 minutes and Kyle Diskin from the spot on 23 minutes holding out, despite Jamie Brown's reply just before the half-time whistle.

The game at Christchurch Meadow between Belper Town and Sutton Coldfield Town ended all-square at 2-2, with late goals coming from Jamie Sheldon 10 minutes from time to give the Royals a 2-1 lead that Jon Froggatt cancelled out from the spot in injury-time. They arrive after Chris Adam had broken the deadlock five minutes after the break and Craig Marshall had levelled on the hour-mark.
