Halesowen Town remain four points clear at the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division South table after a 3-0 win at Market Drayton Town on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Aaron Griffiths gave the Yeltz a 37th minute lead that he doubled in the 72nd minute. Top scorer Ben Haseley made it 3-0 in stoppage time.

Leek Town, with two games in hand on Halesowen, proved too strong for the Brigg Town at the Hawthorns, eventually winning 4-0.

After a goalless first half the second half introduction of substitute Ben Mills changed the game in the visitors favour as he grabbed a hat-trick of headed goals in the 72nd, 80th and 85th minutes to follow Tim Grice's 56th minute opener.

Third-placed Coalville Town maintained their challenge and are just a point further back after virtually ending Newcastle Town's faint play-off hopes with a 3-0 win at the Lyme Valley Stadium.

It took just over an hour for the Ravens to break through thanks to Cameron Stuart, and then new signing Gary Hay added a second on 69 minutes and Jordan Nadat a third with three minutes to go.

Mickleover Sports are fourth, a further two points adrift, after winning 2-1 at home against Chasetown.

It was that man Zeph Thomas again who proved Sports` winner with a brace in the 18th and 63rd minutes – the second from the penalty spot – with Simon Brown replying 12 minutes from time.

Belper Town hold the final play-off spot after another win and are a massive ten points clear of sixth-placed Scarborough Athletic who also won.

The Nailers triumphed 2-1 at Loughborough Dynamo where Kieran Wells gave them a 10th minute lead that top scorer Jon Froggatt added to three minutes into the second half. Rob Norris reduced the arrears 12 minutes from the end.

Scarborough are still in touch in case of a sudden loss of form from Belper after beating second-bottom Bedworth United 3-0 at the Oval.

Scarborough made a flying start as Grant Ryan put them in front after three minutes and the lead was doubled in the 12th minute when Gary Bradshaw got in behind United’s back four to turn the ball past James Wren from Steve Ridley’s in-swinging cross. Jordan Thewlis added a stoppage time third for Boro.

Kidsgrove Athletic remain three points adrift at the bottom after losing 5-3 at the Moat against mid-table Gresley FC, whose Alex Steadman netted all five of his side`s goals!

He opened the scoring in the fifth minute and then restored the Moatmen`s lead after 38 minutes following Matt Haddrell`s 23rd minute penalty leveller.

Three goals in the opening nine minutes of the second half made it 5-1 to Gresley – and Steadman – with Jordan Johnson and Haddrell again from the spot, reducing the deficit to two.

The other game saw Sheffield FC beat Rainworth Miners Welfare 3-1 at home, thanks to goals from Steve Woolley after 35 minutes, Ben Algar on 75 and Andy Gascoigne on 86, with Ashley Longstaff sandwiching the Wrens` reply in the 80th minute.
