The title race in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South looks like going right to the wire, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Leaders Halesowen Town remain two points clear of Coalville Town after both won on Saturday, but third-placed Leek Town dropped two points after drawing at Scarborough Athletic.

Halesowen, in front of 569 at The Grove, scraped a narrow 1-0 win, courtesy of an 82nd minute Tom Tonks effort, while Coalville won 2-0 at Owen Street against bottom-markers Kidsgrove Athletic. Gary Hay gave the Ravens a 29th minute lead that Ben Saunders doubled on 66 minutes.

Leek, however, were held 1-1 at Queensgate by Scarborough, whose Matt Plummer beat his own keeper to give the visitors a 69th minute lead that Grant Ryan levelled eight minutes from time.

Belper Town are assured of a play-off place after a 4-1 success at Rainworth Miners Welfare.

It wasn`t until the 66th minute that the Nailers broke through though and then James Cullingworth on 71 minutes and top scorer Jon Froggatt on 82 made it game over, although Tristram Whitman on 83 minutes replied, only for Sam Duncum to add a fourth in time added on.

Mickleover Sports would need to lose their remaining three games to allow Sutton Coldfield Town to overtake them, with their next game being against the Royals!

But the Derbyshire outfit could only manage a 2-2 home draw with Goole AFC on Saturday which keeps the race mathematically open.

Mitch Husbands` 16th minute opener for the Vikings was cancelled out within a minute by Nic De Girolamo and then Simeon Oshoboke on 38 minutes gave Sports the lead that Ashley Jackson cancelled out on the hour-mark.

Brigg Town are still not mathematically safe from relegation after a 3-2 home defeat to Sutton Coldfield.

The visitors found themselves 3-0 up after 64 minutes, thanks to Luke Edwards, Dan Edwards and Craig Milligan, before a spirited late fight back by the home team threatened to snatch a point. Scott Hellewell and Danny Buttle (penalty) reduced the arrears and the visitors made things even tougher for themselves when Joe Lyng was sent-off.

The bottom spot is between Kidsgrove, Bedworth United and Lincoln United – the latter two having shared a 1-1 draw at the Oval where Daniel Dubidat`s goal right on half-time for the Greenbacks was cancelled out by Danny Brooks 11 minutes from time.

Elsewhere, Greg Downes scored the only goal on 65 minute to give Romulus victory over Carlton Town at Coles Lane, while Serge Makofo gave Gresley FC a 32nd minute lead at Market Drayton Town, whose equalised through Rob Stevenson, only for Alex Steadman to win it for the Moatmen 16 minutes from the end.

Nick Wellecomme gave Chasetown a 17th minute lead at Sheffield FC before goals either side of half-time from Joel Purkiss and Steve Woolley turned the game in the hosts` favour.
