There were only four games in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division South on Saturday due to the FA Trophy but they produced twenty goals between them, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Sutton Coldfield Town moved to within two points of leaders Newcastle Town after beating Coalville Town 2-0 at Coles Lane.

And the Royals had their two full-backs to thank for the win, as firstly Rob Evans broke the deadlock to put them in front nine minutes into the second half and then Matt Jackson completed victory with a second 10 minutes from time.

One could have forgiven Norton United for having next weekend`s FA Cup First Round tie on their minds when they hosted second-bottom Brigg Town. However, they scored six second half goals to overturn a lacklustre first half display on a windy afternoon at Community Drive.

Scouts from Conference cup opponents Gateshead would have have reported an easy ride if they`d texted home after an hour as Norton trailed 4-1 to goals from Anthony Bowsley from the penalty spot after 29 minutes, Tim Taylor three minutes later, Bowsley again from the spot three minutes after half-time and then Elliot Broughton just before the hour-mark – Paul Taylor having given the home side a 23rd minute lead.

But United staged a remarkable recovery.vTom Winkle`s 65th minute spot-kick triggered it and goals followed from Taylor with his second on 69 minutes, Lee Cropper nine minutes later, a Michael Lennon brace in three minutes and then Jon Beaumont with four minutes to go.

Rampant Lincoln United made it nine games unbeaten in the league as they hammered fifth-bottom Stocksbridge Park Steels 5-0. Andy Hutchinson bagged a brace in the eighth and 48th minutes to give United a comfortable lead that Sean Wright on 64 and 77 minutes and Kallum Wright sandwiched between on 70 minutes, all added to.

Bottom-markers Kidsgrove Athletic picked up only their eighth point of the campaign to date in new boss Peter Ward`s first game in charge. Chris Flynn gave Grove an 11th minute lead they held until six minutes into the second period when Tividale equalised from the spot through Zach Foster.
