Leadership of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League First Division South changed hands again on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Newcastle Town are back on top spot after they won 2-1 at Goole AFC, while Sutton Coldfield Town suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at third-bottom Kidsgrove Athletic.

Josh Gordon gave Castle a 21st minute lead at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds, only for David Taylor to equalise in the 35th minute. But Tim Sanders` 56th minute effort proved enough to see Newcastle return to the summit.

They also have neighbours Kidsgrove to thank after Ryan Brown in the 27th minute and Anthony Malbon 15 minutes from time sealed victory over the Royals.

Mickleover Sports were the only other top five side to win on Saturday.

They overcame Carlton Town 3-0 away with veteran Gary Ricketts bagging a brace in the 20th and 68th minutes and Liam Walshe netting the other in injury-time.

Leek Town were held to a goalless draw at another play-off contender, Lincoln United, while Stafford Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw at Marston Road by a mid-table Loughborough Dynamo side hammered 7-1 by Leek last weekend.

Joe Shaw's last-gasp stoppage time equaliser for Dynamo cancelled out Stanley Mugisha`s 25th minute opener for Rangers.

Sixth-placed Spalding United were beaten 2-0 at home by Tividale, for whom Jordan Archer after 24 minutes and Richard Huckfield 10 minutes from time, were on target.

Gresley FC`s 1-0 win at second-bottom Rainworth Miners Welfare, thanks to Jake Carlisle`s 76th minute effort, moved the Moatmen to within three points of the top five.

Bottom-markers Brigg Town's goals against column slipped over the century-mark as they were hammered 7-1 at The Hawthorns by Norton United.

It was 4-0 at half-time with goals from Michael Lennon with two, Kyle Diskin and Jon Beaumont, who added his second shortly after the restart. Lee Cropper and a Tom Fogg penalty completed the rout – Lee Clay netting a consolation for the Zebras.

Fellow strugglers Market Drayton Town enjoyed a fine 5-3 win at home against in-form Coalville Town, with Aidan Haughton and Joe Woolley both netting braces and Jeff Watkins one. Nathan Watson with a brace and Sam Saunders replied for the Ravens.

Edwin Ahenkorah scored all three for Romulus in their 3-2 Coles Lane victory over another of the strugglers, Stocksbridge Park Steels, whose Lee Garside scored both of their replies.
