Skelmersdale United remain a point clear at the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Premier Division table after a comfortable 3-0 win against King's Lynn Town at the West Lancs College Stadium, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

It was goalless at half-time and then Skem broke the deadlock after 64 minutes through Mattie Hughes. Ashley Dunn doubled the home side's advantage just five minutes later, with Adam Morning making it game over with a third eight minutes from time.

Chorley maintained the pressure in second after edging out Ilkeston FC 2-1 at Victory Park.

Darren Stephenson put the Magpies ahead after 27 minutes and they went into the break two-up when James Dean doubled their lead right on the whistle. Aaron Hooton 'won' the second half for the Robins with an 81st minute effort, but they were unable to find a leveller.

AFC Fylde, Worksop Town and Blyth Spartans complete the top five, and all three won on Saturday.

The Coasters beat Frickley Athletic 2-0 at Kellamergh Park, thanks to goals from Luke Denson after 23 minutes and Mattie Hughes on 53 minutes, while Worksop comfortably saw off bottom-markers Droylsden 3-0 at Sandy Lane, courtesy of a Leon Mettam brace in the 33rd and 72nd minutes and one from Jack Adams eight minutes later.

Blyth made it a hat-trick of home winners, edging out Rushall Olympic by the odd goal in five at Croft Park.
Spartans raced into a 2-0 lead with goals from Nathan Buddle after 19 minutes and Danny Maguire just after half-time.

Stan Mugisha reduced the arrears in the 68th minute and then Blyth were reduced to ten-men 11 minutes from time as Arran Wearmouth was sent-off and Zac Martin converted the resultant penalty. But six minutes later Paul Robinson grabbed Blyth`s winner.

Matlock Town and FC United of Manchester shared a 1-1 Causeway Lane draw in front of 978 fans who saw Danny Holland give the Gladiators a 17th minute lead that Tom Greaves eventually cancelled out eight minutes after the break.

Buxton's poor results against the league's struggling clubs continues after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Stafford Rangers at Marston Road.

Mark Reed gave the Bucks the lead on 82 minutes and, despite having Jermaine Johnson sent-off, Stafford equalised through Tamworth loanee Kaiyne Woolery in the last minute to grab a point.

Grantham Town and Witton Albion shared an uninspiring goalless draw at The Meres, while fourth-bottom Stamford AFC enjoyed a good day in beating Marine 3-1 at the Arriva Stadium, courtesy of a hat-trick from Ryan Robbins in the 35th, 50th and 83rd minutes. Matt Devine netted a last-minute consolation for the Mariners.

Barwell and Trafford also fought out a 0-0 draw at Kirkby Road but elsewhere Nantwich Town and Whitby Town were involved in a seven-goal thriller at the Weaver Stadium.

The Dabbers came from two-down to win after Lee Mason and Graeme Armstrong had given the Seasiders a 2-0 lead by the 27th minute. Steve Foster began the comeback on 54 minutes, only for Armstrong to make it 3-1 in the 65th minute. Max Harrop reduced the deficit to one again four minutes later and Harry Clayton equalised in the 81st minute before Ben Deegan headed a 94th minute winner.

The game between Ashton United and Stocksbridge Park Steels was postponed due to a part frozen pitch.
