Considering an amazing 50 points separate the teams, it was a terrific win for the Moatmen and the battle for promotion below Basford is looking increasingly like a battle between seven teams now.

The two promoted sides have endured totally differing fortunes, and Yusi Ceesay was the `Church hero on Saturday, netting a hat-trick in the 22nd, 39th and then 90th minutes, with Ashley Carter adding the other on the half-hour mark.

The Greenbacks overcame fellow top six challengers Frickley Athletic 3-2 at the Oval, coming back from being Tom Dugdale and Jacob Hazel goals down by the hour-mark to win, thanks to Iyseden Christie, Levi Rowley and Luke Keen – the visitors had manager Spencer Fearn sent to the stands late on.

Frickley were deducted three points and now trail Stamford AFC in fifth, with the Daniels winning 1-0 at Newcastle Town, courtesy of a 78th minute Ollie Brown-Hill effort.

Chasetown occupy the other top six spot after they won 2-1 at Loughborough Dynamo with goals from Jacob Lovatt in the 54th and then 90th minutes after Danny Gordon had equalised in the 74th minute.

Leek Town are now five points adrift of the Scholars in seventh and Corby Town two points further behind in eighth.

Leek were held to a 1-1 draw at Cleethorpes Town, who led through Brody Robertson after 18 minutes, only for Rob Stevenson to level eight minutes later.

The Steelmen beat Stocksbridge Park Steels 3-2, who started the day above Corby.

Matty Gardner's 20th minute penalty put the visitors in the lead before Dino Tuksar doubled that just past the hour-mark. Scott Ruthven reduced the deficit 10 minutes later, only for Phil Trainer to restore the Steelmen`s two-goal lead in the 83rd minute. Richard Stirrup pulled a second back for Steels a minute from time, but weren`t able to find a leveller.

Following Gresley`s shock win, Sheffield FC now prop up the table after they shared a 2-2 home draw with second-bottom Romulus.

Zak Lilly broke the deadlock to put the Roms in front four minutes into the second half. James Gregory equalised on 72 minutes, only for Malachi Farquharson to restore Roms' lead eight minutes from time. A stoppage time Adam Chapman effort salvaged a point for Club.

But it's getting tight at the bottom, and now only six points separate 14th-placed Carlton Town from Sheffield.

In that group are both Spalding United and Market Drayton Town, who shared a goalless draw at the Sir Halley Stewart Fields, while Kidsgrove Athletic shared a 2-2 home draw with Lincoln United

Rumineo Valido-Barai opened the scoring for Grove when he ran at the Lincoln defenders and slotted ball in to the bottom corner before Lee Cropper added a second two minutes. The visitors pulled one back in the 60th minute through sub Paul Grimes from close range and the same player equalised with four minutes to go.

Darol Lucas was also sent-off as Carlton Town beat Belper Town 4-1 at Stoke Lane.

Lucas received his marching orders for a second yellow card with nine minutes remaining and Carlton just 2-1 ahead after goals from Mamoke Akaunu and Ben Hutchinson – Jack Hallahan having equalised. But any fears the Millers might concede their lead were dispelled with two excellent goals in the closing minutes from Jordan Watson and Akaunu again.
