A wanted man since scoring for the Glassboys in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup at Wycombe Wanderers, the defender's switch to the Football League for an undisclosed fee was confirmed by the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division club's proud officials on Monday night.
In a statement wishing the 22-year-old well, a club spokesman said: "Stourbridge FC can now confirm that Dan Scarr has today [Monday] completed his transfer to Birmingham City FC on a two-and-a-half-year contract, for an undisclosed fee.
"The club are obviously delighted for Dan and we would like to wish him all the very best in the near and distant future with his new club. At the same time, we are, of course, very disappointed to lose him as a player and we would like to thank him for his services and for his tremendous attitude whilst at the club."
Scarr, pictured, was on trial with the Blues last week, impressing manager Gianfranco Zola after trialing at West Bromwich Albion only a week earlier. Glassboys boss Gary Hackett backed the former Worcester City and Redditch player to make the most of his move from the War Memorial Ground to St Andrews.
Hackett told the club's fans: “We are all thrilled for Dan. He’s a great lad and he deserves this chance. I said to him at the start of the season that if he got his head down and worked hard he could be playing in the Football League, and not just at the lower levels.
“I honestly think he’s got huge potential and I think he can go on to great things. He’s improved hugely over the last eighteen months or so. He’s been so consistent in his performances, never panics on the ball, and he’s been a very important part of some great times for us, especially this season. I can’t speak highly enough of him.”
Scarr made 55 appearances last season from Redditch United in the summer of 2015 and despite being a central defender scored seven goals last term. In total, he amassed 84 appearances for the Glassboys and scored 11 goals, including three in this season’s history-making Emirates FA Cup campaign and his side's equaliser in their brave 2-1 defeat at League Two Wycombe Wanderers. He made his final appearance in the EVO-STIK NPL's top flight in Stourbridge's 4-0 win at Skelmersdale United on Saturday 14 January.
