Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Carlton Town have signed a second sponsor for the biggest community event in the club's history at Southwell Races on Sunday.

The First Division South's Millers say SkyCig Electronic Cigarettes have now jumped on board as sponsors for 'Carlton Town at the Races'. In March the club teamed up with Nottingham City Transport as race day partners for what was originally an emergency fundraiser after the Millers were left facing a £9000 bill for repairs and damages following a raid by thieves and vandals at the start of the season.

Tickets for the event were donated by the racecourse, pictured, when they heard about the club's plight. To Carlton's relief their insurers finally overturned a decision not to pay out after successful campaign by the club who are now free to use the event's profits as they choose.

Chairman Mick Garton said: "In my twelve years at the club I have never experienced such a positive response to any event we have put on and been involved with. From the manager to the captain, sponsors, supporters, local businesses and other football club it really has been amazing and I can't thank people enough.

"Our biggest thanks of course go to Nathan Corden at Southwell Racecourse for doing this for us and to Anthony Carver-Smith at Nottingham City Transport along with Basil Dutchak at Sky Cig for becoming partners for the day both sponsoring races on behalf of the club.

"We will have John Sumpter at the course capturing all the fun of the day along with the Miller Mouse and Peppa Pig will also be at the course as it is a family day. We have a few remaining tickets left which are available from Brian Dennett on 07979 647559."

With the first race at 2.15pm, the Millers are urging race-goers to arrive for 1pm and take advantage of Nottingham City Transport's excellent Pathfinder 100 bus service which operates frequently between Nottingham and Southwell.

Nottingham City Transport, who are also sponsoring a race, run an hourly service at five past the hour on Sundays from King Street in the city centre. The journey time to Southwell is approximately 50 minutes. Pick-ups from the Carlton area are at approximately twenty past the hour. Returning buses depart from Norwood Gardens in Southwell at 5.14pm, 7.14pm and 9.14pm.
