Former Manchester United and England star Lee Sharpe and a host of other top names are turning out at Frickley Athletic to back a new charity helping the victims of April's M62 coach crash that killed one woman and seriously injured 19 others.

The Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Blues are staging the match on Sunday 7 July at Westfield Lane between a Legends XI and local players in aid of charity 'Beth's Angels'.

The Premier Division club are also hosting a fundraising auction and Q & A session with the Legends after the match which will see locals pay £30 to play 30 minutes against the former professionals.

'Beth's Angels' was set up after the accident near Pontefract on April 27 involving a lorry and a coach carrying a Hen party from South Elmshall to Liverpool. The crash left eight women with serious injuries and took the life of local girl Bethany Jones, 18, pictured.

As well as Sharpe, the Legends XI will include the likes of ex-Nottingham Forest and Wales goalkeeper Mark Crossley, ex-Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday and Republic of Ireland midfielder John Sheridan, former Newcastle United left-back John Beresford and ex-Sheffield Wednesday and England striker David Hirst.

The Premier Division's Blues, who say many more well-known former pros are due to confirm their involvement in the coming days, say anyone interested in playing should contact Allan Howcroft on 07971 886223.

KO is 3pm with tickets priced at £5 for adults and admission free for children.
