Shaw shown the door to beat drop

Sheffield FC and manager Mark Shaw went their separate ways on Friday with the world's oldest football club facing relegation from the EVO-STIK League.

Appointed last year as the successor to Mark Hume, Shaw, pictured, was in his second spell at the helm and left with Club in bottom spot in EVO-STIK League South having failed to guide them to a win since New Year's Day.

Former boss Chris Dolby has returned to The BT Local Stadium for the rest of the season to save Sheffield from the drop with just one club set to be relegated this term ahead of next season's restructuring of Non-League to create new Midlands divisions at Steps 3 and 4.

Dolby will be assisted by Gavin Smith and a club statement read: "Following a disappointing series of results since the beginning of the year, Sheffield FC have made the decision to replace the first-team management team of Mark Shaw and assistant Martin Foster with immediate effect.

"Taking charge of the team for the remainder of the season will be Chris Dolby and Gavin Smith, former players and managers of the club. They will take charge of the home fixture against Kidsgrove Athletic on Saturday. The club would like to thank Mark and Martin for their efforts since taking over in September last year."
