Spartans show hitting the airwaves

Blyth Spartans are calling on fans to come up with ideas to cover on their first official radio podcast.

The Evo-Stik Northern Premier League outfit have teamed up with Radio Northumberland to launch their first show from Croft Park next month.

The station's Head of Sport Jonny Hall is teaming up with Spartans press officer Mark Carruthers to host and produce the monthly podcasts delving into life at the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division outfit.

Spartans say the podcasts will be packed full of interviews with clubs officials, management, fans and players, past and present. They’ll be available to download from the Spartans' official website and elsewhere following their broadcast on Radio Northumberland.

Blyth's Carruthers said: "After our recent announcement of Radio Northumberland's coverage of Spartans games the podcast will be another useful tool for the media side of the club and will allow our supporters an insight into everything at Croft Park.

"We'd like to ask our supporters for some help before the release of the first episode with suggestions for a name or feature they'd like to hear. Everyone is on board with the podcast and we're looking forward to seeing the reaction from the supporters once the first one is released."

* Blyth announced on Thursday that midfielder Shaun Vipond had left the club. The former Carlisle United, Workington and Ostersund FK player had made 27 appearances this season having joined Spartans in the summer of 2011. A club spokesman said: "Everyone at Croft Park would like to thank Shaun for efforts at the club and would like to wish him all the best in the future."
