Pritchard strengthens after switch approved

Witton Albion manager Brian Pritchard has signed former Halifax Town defender Danny Meadowcroft to strengthen his defence ahead of Saturday's Evo-Stik Northern Premier League trip to Ashton United.

The big centre-half, 27, started his career with Stockport County and played a key role in Colwyn Bay's promotion to the Conference North. His transfer to the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division club was confirmed on Thursday following the arrival of his international clearance.

Meadowcroft, who's also had spells at Morecambe and Northwich Victoria, had been a regular for the Seagulls this season and was at the Help For Heroes Stadium on Wednesday night to see his new teammates beat Runcorn Town 1-0 courtesy of an 83rd minute Joe Shaw goal to reach the Cheshire Senior Cup Quarter Finals.
