Spoilt for choice after poll closes!

By David Watters

Nearly eight hundred players are already in the running to make the EVO-STIK League's top one hundred players and team of all time.

A grand total of 769 players are going forward to a public vote in November to choose the 'Top 100 Players' and a 'Team of all Time' after being nominated by the public before the deadline of a minute to midnight on Friday (October 20).

As the Northern Premier League celebrates the competition's 50th anniversary season in 2017-18, a total of 1,719 nominations were registered over the last three weeks with the contributions from clubs due to be added to the list after a second deadline passes next Friday night (October 27).

The online public poll of players starts on Saturday 4 November and closes on Sunday 17 December with the final line-ups of legends set to feature in a specially commissioned book charting the Northern Premier League's proud history since its foundation in 1968.

Entitled '50 Glorious Seasons - A History of the Northern Premier League 1968-2018', the new book is currently being written by official historian and statistician Dominic McKenzie and will be out within weeks of the anniversary campaign ending.

To produce a definitive history with chapters on everything from the story behind the NPL's foundation to its greatest cup kings and star graduates, fans are being asked to share their memories and archives throughout the 2017-18 season with the author using a dedicated email address.
