Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Warrington Town are hoping to unearth a star of the future after teaming up with a local housing trust to offer tenants the chance to play for their hometown club.
The First Division North's Wire announced this week that they are launching the competition with sponsorship partners from the Golden Gates Housing Trust.
Residents aged 16 and over who live in a GGHT property can show off their footballing skills to the club's managers and coaches during a trial day at Cantilever Park on Saturday 27 July. Anyone showing natural ability will be invited to take part in a second round of trials at a later date and move a step closer to becoming a semi-professional footballer.
GGHT Chair Roy Smith said: "It is great to be able to announce the launch of this competition. Our community partnership with Warrington Town FC plays a key role in helping us to promote health and physical activity and has already brought a number of benefits to our tenants and their families. With over 11,000 residents living in our homes we hope that this competition will help the club unearth a star of the future."
Potential players who meet the entry criteria can reserve a place at the trial by contacting the Trust's Tenant Participation Team free on 0800 25 26 27 or by emailing tenant.participation@gght.org.uk before Monday July 15.
Under the community partnership between GGHT and Warrington Town FC, the Trust's tenants already receive discounted admission to all of the club's home games and reductions on the cost of places on the Wire's on-going multi-sport camps.
