Sponsors kick start blooming start to season!

By David Watters

Spalding United have been enjoying their start the new EVO-STIK Northern Premier League campaign more than most.

Apart from drawing away on the opening day of the season and winning their first home game in midweek, the ambitious Tulips have also been celebrating the signing of the best sponsorship deal in the First Division South club's 94 year history with Spalding-based business the EMG Motor Group.

Before seeing Pat Rayment's side draw 1-1 against Romulus in a tough start on the 3G at Coles Lane and overcome Loughborough Dynamo 2-0 on Tuesday night, officials at the Hayley Stewart Football Ground secured the local Hyundai sales and Ford authorized repairer on a three year deal.

Hailing the major sponsorship agreement as a "massive boost" for the south Lincolnshire club, Tulips press officer Ray Tucker said: “The club is very excited and extremely grateful to EMG for investing in us and to our 18-year-old commercial manager Mark Carroll for negotiating the sponsorship package.

"Our thanks to all connected with EMG Motor Group for their important and invaluable support. We are very confident we can work closely together to fulfil our aim of progressing upwards through the football pyramid.

"Suffice to say, the deal represents the biggest in the Tulips' history and sends out a clear message that the club is very much on the rise following the boardroom restructuring and introduction of fresh ideas and impetus ahead of the 2015-16 season."

He added: “We are entering into a completely new era as a club with lots of interest from local individuals and companies expressing wishes to be involved. And we have already begun to forge a better working relationship with our landlords, South Holland District Council.

“We firmly believe there are exciting times ahead for us a community club moving forward with a total of 18 teams from senior to U7s currently involved."

EMG's Paul Watkins-Groves said: “We are proud to sponsor Spalding United Football Club. We recognise that the club is moving forward and they have a vision of achieving Step Three football which we would like help them achieve.

"As a recognised local firm we believe in supporting our town and part of that is its football team. We wish Spalding United the best of luck in the forthcoming season and we will be supporting their journey many seasons to come."
