Stopper staying on for season

Skelmersdale United have agreed a deal with Preston North End to keep stopper Callum Roberts in the EVO-STIK League until the end of the season.

Skem manager Dave Powell told supporters on Wednesday that he was "delighted" to hang on to the 19-year-old, pictured, who's impressed in EVO-STIK League North since arriving on loan in October and playing a huge role in the club's recent six game unbeaten run.

Roberts spent six years at Sunderland before joining the Lilywhites in 2014 and going on to help the Championship club's next generation of starts reach the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup last season, pictured.

The teenager signed a professional contract in April 2017 and Powell told the club's website: “I am delighted to have Callum remaining with us until the end of the season. He has performed great for us since coming in and excelled during our recent unbeaten run. He has fitted in well with the squad and I am looking forward to his continued commitment with the club."
