Teenage striker Danny Chambers is hoping to repay the faith shown him by Ossett Town manager John Reed by helping his new club climb up the EVO-STIK NPL First Division North table.

The 18-year-old, pictured, signed for the Ingfield outfit in September from Scarborough Athletic and he was due to play a part against his former club on Saturday in their league clash at Bridlington’s ground where the Seadogs groundshare.

Chambers has scored in each of his last three outings and said: "I’ve had a good start personally at Ossett Town. I am just happy to be back playing and having a chance to show what I can do. John Reed and Clive Freeman have put together a good young squad and they’re a great set of lads, I have fitted straight in.

"I hope to continue my good start in the game and hopefully come away with a good result. I am enjoying working with John and Clive and hopefully we can start getting the results that match our recent performances and start to move up the league."

Reed is delighted that he convinced Chambers to move along the M62 to join his squad. "I tried to get him in the summer," said Reed. "I know what a good player he is and that he would do a job for me here. When we beat Scarborough at home last month he was only on the bench for them so I thought I would try my luck and put seven days in on him."

He added: "I told him what we had here, and what we’re trying to do, I was over the moon when he signed. And already he is repaying the faith I have in him with three excellent goals so far."
