The Doodson Sport Cup action review

The Doodson Sport Cup final will see Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division leaders North Ferriby United take on First Division North play-off contenders Curzon Ashton, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Ferriby edged past Curzon's league rivals Cammell Laird 2-1 on Wednesday night and 24 hours later Premier Division Matlock Town were beaten by the same scoreline on their own Causeway Lane patch.

Matlock were forced to field an understrength side due to injury, and fell behind to an early seventh minute own goal from the unfortunate Lawrence Gaughan.

Joe Leesley pulled the Gladiators back into the game on 64 minutes but a deflected effort from Scott Metcalfe 11 minutes from time saw Curzon through to reach the Evo-Stik NPL's League Challenge Cup Final.
