They are taking inspiration from ‘The 92’ - the teams that make up the Football Leagues in England - and the NC 500, a Scottish coastal route for the hardened travelling holiday maker.
On April 16, they will travel nonstop around all 81 grounds in the Pitching In Northern Premier League to raise money for the Dougie Mac Hospice in North Staffordshire and local Leek Charities.
They will be back at Harrison Park, the home of Leek Town, in time for the last home game of the season, a Bank Holiday derby between Leek Town and Kidsgrove Athletic.
Every year, The Dougie Mac Hospice provides services free of charge to over 3,500 local people with life-limiting illnesses in the North Staffordshire and surrounding areas. This is through their hospice centres and the community support for those in need, as well as support for their families and carers.
Amongst the local charities supported are the Leek Town Junior section and Leek Town ACFC. The funds raised will be used to support the improvement of facilities used by the groups – focusing on accessibility and further development of the infrastructure.
The team will drive nonstop from Leek, heading through the Midlands down to Cambridgeshire, then heading up the East Coast to Northumbria before crossing over to the West Coast to travel South and visiting the North West teams around Manchester and Merseyside, before finishing at Harrison Park.
