Third new manager on the way after Moore quits

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Kidsgrove Athletic are on the lookout for their third manager of the season after Paul Moore resigned at lunchtime on Wednesday.

The former Clitheroe manager, pictured, succeeded Neil Gill at the First Division South club’s Seddon Stadium at the start of September and stood down following Tuesday night’s 4-0 home defeat to Norton United in the Staffordshire Senior Cup.

After holding the fort following Gill's departure, coach Josh Brehaut has been asked to take charge again for Saturday's league game at home to Loughborough Dynamo with the club currently four points adrift at the bottom of the table.

In a statement released by Grove officials, Athletic's chairman John Rowley said he had spoken to Moore after the county cup defeat to express his disappointment over recent results and is insisting the club will not be rushed into recruiting a new manager as it considers its options.

Rowley said: "There won't be an immediate appointment, the board will sit down and discuss where we go from here. It's disappointing to be doing it so soon after appointing Paul Moore.

"We beat Brigg 7-2 a couple of weeks ago, but since then we have gone backwards. Some of the players the manager brought in were worse than what we already had. It was not good enough."

Moore took the helm at First Division North Clitheroe in May 2012 after previously managing Leek Town, Warrington Town and Congleton Town. A UEFA A licence coach, he was also director of football at Woodley Sports.
