Thompson departs Dollies

The defender made six appearances for the Dolly Blues following his move from Ramsbottom United.

Manager Mark Fell told the club's official website: “It’s disappointing as I felt he’d acquitted himself well.

"This league is relentless and Thommo has a few historical injuries that were hampering him, he’d also found the travel from Burnley tough and I have to respect that.

"He will play more locally and for him it’s important to get back to playing regularly and enjoying his football. He’s a great lad who’s character will be missed as well as his committed style of play.”
