Thursday's North Division action review

By David Watters

Goole AFC were relegated from EVO-STIK League North on Thursday night, their slim hopes of staving off the drop disappearing with an unsatisfactory draw, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Vikings had got off to a good star in a 2-2 draw with Ossett Albion at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds, Dan Horton putting them inside the opening three minutes.

Tom Corner equalised 11 minutes later and three minutes before the break, Aiden Chippendale put the Unicorns in front. A penalty in stoppage time at the end of the game salvaged a point for the Vikings but it wasn`t enough.

The evening's other game saw Hyde United return to winning ways after successive draws to give them a chance of pipping Scarborough Athletic for the second automatic promotion slot.

The Tigers received the boost of a ninth minute penalty when Tyrone Gay was brought down in the box and skipper Paddy Miller converted the spot-kick. Their second goal didn`t arrive until 10 minutes from time but when it did, it was a 25-yard cracker from Phattharaphol 'Big' Khamsuk.
