Thursday's Premier Division action review

By David Watters

Shaw Lane AFC ended a run of five successive defeats in the EVO-STIK League Premier with a 3-1 win against bottom-markers Sutton Coldfield Town at Sheerien Park on a damp Thursday night in Yorkshire, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Ducks got off to a great start when Damian Reeves got on the end of a Kieran Lugsden through ball to score after just four minutes.

They doubled their advantage just shy of the half-hour mark when Alex Byrne`s free-kick from just outside the box went straight in. And on 36 minutes it was 3-0 with an effort from 18 yards from midfielder David Norris.

The Royals battled hard but their only reward came three minutes into stoppage time at the end of the game through Dominic Dell.

The win lifts Shaw Lane back into the play-off places, while Sutton Coldfield remain six points adrift at the bottom with games running out.
