Thursday's South Division action review

By David Watters

Corby Town's play-off hopes in EVO-STIK League South took a possibly terminal blow when they were held to a draw at Carlton Town on Thursday night, while Sheffield FC are probably now safe after winning, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

In Nottingham, Kaylum Mitchell gave Carlton an early eighth minute lead. The Steelmen, needing a win to put pressure on those above them, eventually pulled back on level terms through Jake Bettles on 69 minutes but they weren`t able to find a winner and are now seven points behind the top six.

Sheffield made it four games unbeaten and moved eight points clear of the drop zone after beating fellow strugglers Kidsgrove Athletic 3-2 at The BT Local Stadium.

Club had to come back from being an early second minute Eric Graves goal down to win, with James Gregory equalising after 25 minutes. Kyle Diskin restored Grove's lead on 64 minutes but Adam Chapman 15 minutes from time and then Ben Turner in the 89th minute, turned the game in Club`s favour.
