Tigers striker turns Pied Piper!

When storms hit Worksop Town’s Evo-Stik Northern Premier League clash at home to Buxton on Saturday Tigers striker Jack Muldoon made sure it didn’t ruin the big day for a team of young footballers.

Having watched his side’s clash with the Bucks postponed with a waterlogged pitch, big–hearted Muldoon took control after spotting the 14 dejected six-year-olds who’d been due to lead the teams out and entertain fans with a half-time match of their own. Instead of letting them leave Sandy Lane disappointed, to their delight the 24-year-old took the youngsters out onto the pitch for an impromptu kick-about, pictured.

Muldoon has found the net 18 times this season for Mark Shaw's side since arriving in August from North Ferriby United, last season’s Evo-Stik Northern Premier League champions. The former Scunthorpe United, Brigg Town, Alfreton Town, Sheffield FC and Stocksbridge Park Steels frontman certainly did his own and his proud club’s reputation no harm according to supporter Richard Nelson.

The sales engineer helped organise the trip for the junior Tigers and posted the picture on Facebook afterwards with the accompanying comment hailing Worksop's very own footballing Pied Piper: "Up steps centre forward Jack Muldoon who got the lads on the pitch for a kick about ‪#‎topman. It's little things like this that make the difference. It went from being a horrible day to the kids loving it."
