Garry Vaughan and his squad are looking forward to Evo-Stik NPL First Division North Trafford boosting future relations with Manchester United after preparing for their 5-1 victory over Goole on Saturday at their Premier League neighbour’s Carrington training ground.

United offered Vaughan’s squad the chance to use their base last Thursday night and the North's manager said the gesture to the Shawe View club had given his squad a real insight into the facilities at one of the world's top clubs and fired their ambition ahead of the win over the Vikings.

Trafford already enjoy good relations with many of the staff at Carrington and on Saturday week [November 17] the Manchester United Academy are sponsoring their home clash against Ramsbottom United with the Reds' Under 12s squad and staff attending the game.

Vaughan reckons United's offer to train at Carrington couldn't have come at a better time for the squad, pictured at Carrington.

He said: "It's always hard at our level to find good training facilities during the winter months, plus we have to consider the players coming out after work and being motivated to give their best on a late evening.

"We do okay but it is fantastic that Manchester United have allowed us to use Carrington for the evening. It gave our lads a great insight into what the facilities are like at one of the world’s top clubs.

"It gave us vital quality time to set up some things in training which we cannot always do elsewhere so I can't thank them enough for this gesture. It is appreciated by everyone at our club, not least the players!"
