Tudgay denied dream debut

Former Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, Barnsley and Coventry City striker Marcus Tudgay missed out on making a dream derby debut for Sutton Coldfield Town in the EVO-STIK League on Saturday.

After spending the last three seasons at Coventry City, the 34-year-old was on the wrong side of a 3-0 derby day defeat in the EVO-STIK League's top flight at Hednesford Town's Keys Park.

The forward, who made made nearly 300 appearances in the Football League for Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday before joining Nottingham Forest in 2010, was unveiled on Saturday morning as one of three signings in 48 hours by manager Richard Sneekes following Friday's arrival of ITV's Love Island star Luis Morrison-Derbyshire from Alfreton on loan and Preston North End second year scholar Myles Mason on a work experience loan deal.

Assistant manager Steve Hinks said: "It's great news that we have been able to get Marcus on board with us after he left Coventry at the end of last season. He will bring a touch of class and experience to our side that will help others around him. Good luck to all three from everyone at Coles Lane."
