Warrington Town defeated Radcliffe Borough late on at the Abacus Solicitors Community Stadium on Tuesday night to move to sixth in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North table, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.
The hosts started strongly as Phil Doran went close with a long range effort in the early stages. Town had the best of the first half possession but the two teams went in all-square at the break. In the second period, Radcliffe came close to opening the scoring but the conditions saved Warrington as a muddy goalmouth and goalkeeper Andy Robertson did enough to deny the visitors.
Then, with just three minutes remaining, Ciaran Kilheeney found a yard of space in the box and hit a left-footed shot that proved too strong for James Coates in the Boro goal to win the game for the Wire.
Another late goal earned Burscough a share of the spoils at the Giant Axe against Lancaster City.
Jake Simpson scored his first goal for the Dolly Blues with a curled effort after three minutes before Dave Swarbrick's ferocious 40-yard effort doubled City's tally on 34 minutes. Will Jones pulled one back for the visitors just past the hour-mark before the comeback was completed with five minutes remaining when Paul Williams netted.
