Tuesday's First Division North review

By David Watters

Lancaster City gave EVO-STIK Northern First Division North leaders Farsley Celtic a massive boost on Tuesday night when the second-placed Dolly Blues were beaten 2-0 at Prescot Cables, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

It was goalless at the break at Valerie Park but just five minutes after the restart, Dominic Marie gave Cables the lead. Bouyed by last weekend`s win, Prescot added a second after 63 minutes, courtesy of an unfortunate Jacob Gregory own goal.

That leaves Farsley still in front by a point leading into the Easter programme while Clitheroe boosted their top five hopes with a 3-1 Lancashire derby win over Bamber Bridge at Shawbridge.

A crowd of 419 saw Alex Newby give the Blues a 39th minute lead which he doubled 10 minutes into the second half. Newby then completed his hat-trick three minutes later, rendering Jamie Milligan`s 69th minute reply for Brig as just a consolation.

Tueaday`s other game saw Radcliffe Borough end a run of four games without a win with a 3-0 Stainton Park success against Colwyn Bay.

Dan Burns gave Boro a great start with a goal inside the opening minute. Lewis Reilly doubled the hosts' advantage 10 minutes later, and then Reilly eventually added a third with 10 minutes remaining.
