King's Lynn Town reduced the gap between them and Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South leaders Coalville Town to seven points after a 1-0 win at The Scholars against Chasetown on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

A fine recent run had given Chasetown an outside chance of mounting a late play-off push but it was Gary Setchell's side who stretched their unbeaten run to thirteen matches and, with third-placed Stamford AFC losing at Leek Town, Lynn have a six-point cushion over the Daniels, and a game in hand, as they continue to keep the pressure up on the leaders.

The only goal of the game came after less than four minutes but was a worthy winner – Dan Jacob cutting in and unleashing a vicious effort into the top corner of the net from fully 30 yards.

A 25-yard strike from Dan Shelley after eight minutes set Leek on their way to a comfortable 3-0 win at Harrison Park as they completed the double over high-flying Stamford.

Peter Wright doubled the home side's advantage after 23 minutes and Matty Bell added a third with still only 26 minutes gone. Despite the reverse, the Daniels still hold a comfortable position in the top five.

Paul Grimes' injury-time equaliser earned Brigg Town a point from a 1-1 draw at the Lyme Valley Stadium against Newcastle Town, whose Christian Millar had given them an early sixth minute lead.

Brigg have now drawn three games in a row and remain in twelfth place, with `Castle fifth from bottom, six points clear of the team immediately below them, Lincoln United.

And bottom-markers Hucknall Town are all-but down after losing 4-2 to Market Drayton Town at Watnall Road.

Warren Hatfield gave the beleaguered hosts a 25th minute lead that Martyn Davies eventually cancelled out after 54 minutes. The visitors scored twice more on 58 and 64 minutes through Neville Thompson and Davies again respectively before Danny O'Donnell pulled a second back for the Yellows. But Andy Cooke made it 4-2 and game over with five minutes remaining.
