Beardsley boosts Badgers backline

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Eastwood Town have signed former Derby County defender Jason Beardsley.

Beardsley joined the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division Badgers ahead of their 1-0 home defeat to Frickley Athletic on Tuesday night.

The defender switched from Evo-Stik NPL First Division South side Mickleover Sports where he was still registered despite starting the season at Staffordshire County Senior League outfit Uttoxeter Town.

The 23-year-old was previously on loan at Coronation Park back in October 2010 during his time with Macclesfield. He made 13 appearances in total for the Rams and also played elsewhere in the Football League with Notts County where he made 17 appearances.

He signed for Mickleover Sports in the summer of 2011 before joining Stafford Rangers in October 2011. After making just one appearance for Rangers the defender was released and joined Conference Premier side Lincoln City on a non-contract basis before returning to Sports in January 2012.
