Evo-Stik NPL First Division South

Romulus lost their unbeaten record in the Evo-Stik NPL's First Division South on Tuesday night after going down to a 1-0 defeat against Halesowen Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

It was much-travelled striker Iyseden Christie who proved to be the Yeltz`s match-winner at The Grove with the only goal after 35 minutes.

Leek Town still head the table by a point, but they were held to a 1-1 draw at Harrison Park by another in-form side, Belper Town. John Johnston gave the home side a 37th minute lead, but it was that man Jon Froggatt who popped up with the Nailers' equaliser nine minutes after the break – his seventh of the season to date.

Brigg Town picked up their first points of the season after winning 3-1 at Rainworth Miners Welfare. Goals from Will Peers after 41 minutes, Paul Grimes on 64 and debutant Jamie Coulson on 69 minutes ensured that the Zebras were finally able to enjoy a league victory after losing their first five matches – Jamie Clarke replied for the Wrens on 67 minutes.

Sheffield FC produced a good performance in winning 3-1 at Queensgate against Scarborough Athletic. Mark Fereday put Club ahead just before half-time, only for Bryan Hughes to level eight minutes after it. But in the final 11 minutes James Gregory and Andy Gascoigne pounced to win it for the visitors.

It took some time to get the breakthrough, but Chasetown were decent value for their victory at The Scholars against Gresley FC. Marc Goodfellow gave the Moatmen the lead with a 34th minute penalty but Nick Wellecomme cancelled that out less than five minutes later and Simon Brown netted what proved to be the winner – also from the pot – with six minutes to go.

Last season's long-time leaders Coalville Town look to be running into form with a resounding 7-1 thrashing of Market Drayton Town in Shropshire. It was all over by half-time as the Ravens led 5-0 with goals from Jamie McAteer, Cameron Stuart and a Jordan Hempenstall hat-trick. Coalville even had the luxury of taking Hempenstall off at half-time and hit two more through Cameron Stuart and Danny Jenno, with Yannick Makota netting a consolation for the hosts.

Sutton Coldfield Town won comfortably 3-0 at Coles Lane against Newcastle Town. Experienced striker Mark Danks gave the Royals the boost of an early second minute lead that Luke Chapman doubled 17 minutes later, with Danks adding a third on the half-hour mark.

Bedworth United produced an improved performance to earn an away point from a 1-1 draw at Loughborough Dynamo. Dynamo snatched the lead just after half-time through Kris Nurse but Josh O'Grady earned the Greenbacks their fourth away point of the season with a 75th minute equaliser.

It finished all-square as well at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds between Goole AFC and Eastwood Town, who led 2-0 at the break with goals from Ashley Robinson after 25 minutes and Kieran Wells just before half-time. But the Vikings bounced back to earn a point with goals from David Taylor 10 minutes into the second half and then Jack Woolley three minutes from the end.
