Tuesday's First Division South action review

Mickleover Sports and Spalding United were the main movers in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division South on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Mickleover edged past Goole AFC 1-0 at home to slip into the top five, Karl Ashton's 18th minute goal eventually proving decisive.

Spalding won 4-1 at Rainworth Miners Welfare to move into seventh place – three points behind Mickleover.

Jamie Thurlbourne gave the Tulips the boost of an early third minute lead, only for the Wrens to immediately respond through Craig Mitchell. But a Tom Waumsley hat-trick in the 44th, 78th and 90th minutes saw Spalding home.

Bottom-markers Kidsgrove Athletic suffered a tenth defeat of the season to date when they went down to a 2-1 home defeat to another struggler, Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Recent recruit Rory Coleman gave Steels an early seventh minute lead that Lloyd Dean eventually cancelled out with eight minutes to go. But any hopes of a point extinguished when Lee Thompson re-claimed Steels` lead a minute from time.

Loughborough Dynamo lost 1-0 at FA Cup heroes Norton United, for whom Tom Fogg`s 38th minute penalty proved decisive, while Market Drayton Town moved out of the bottom two after a 3-1 home win against Romulus, whose Liam Francis had given them a 54th minute lead.

However, Jake Bennett after 61 minutes, Cohen Bramall nine minutes later and Jordan Johnson a minute from the end turned the game in the Shropshire side's favour.

Coalville's disappointing campaign continues as they were beaten 4-1 at The Scholars by Chasetown.

Nathaniel Waite bagged a brace for the hosts in the 24th and 64th minutes, with Nick Wellecomme on 29 and Jermaine Johnson on 46, sandwiching it – Jamie McAteer replying after 37 minutes for the Ravens.

Carlton Town ended Lincoln United's five-game winning run by holding them to a 2-2 draw at Ashby Avenue.

United went two-up with goals from Andy Hutchinson after 13 minutes and Scott Ruthuen right on half-time. But an Aaron Hooton double in the 63rd and 84th minutes salvaged a point for the Nottinghamshire visitors.
