Skelmersdale United remain three points clear at the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Premier Division table after a fine 2-1 win at Bower Fold against fellow promotion-chasers FC United of Manchester on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

In front of a crowd of 1,843, Rob McIntosh gave Skem a 15th minute lead. But 20 minutes later Jerome Wright levelled in his 250th game for FC United. A draw looked likely, until Aidan Kirkbride popped up with the visitors` winner in the very last minute of normal time.

Buxton remain on Skem's coat tails after a 1-0 win at Trafford, Shaun Tuton's goal just after the hour-mark proving the difference between the two sides.

King's Lynn Town moved level on points with sixth-placed FC United after a 1-0 win at The Walks against Grantham Town, Jordan Yong's goal seven minutes from time winning it for the Linnets.

Richard Bennett bagged a brace as Ashton United won 2-1 at Borough Park against Workington AFC.

Bennett's opener came after 20 minutes and he doubled the Tamesider's lead eight minutes into the second half, with the Reds reply coming from Gavin Skelton on 62 minutes.

Marine lifted themselves out of the bottom four as they recorded a 2-1 win over Rushall Olympic at the Arriva Stadium.

This was a hugely improved display from Carl Macauley's men, who went in front immediately after half-time through James Foley. Andy Fowler's 65th minute penalty doubled the Mariners lead, with the Pics responding with a Gavin Caines spot-kick five minutes later.

Bottom-markers Belper Town prevented visiting Barwell from making it three successive wins with a 2-2 Christchurch Meadow draw.

The Leicestershire side had the boost of an early third minute lead from a Liam Castle spot-kick. But Evan Garnett levelled on the half-hour mark and then Bruno Holden gave the Nailers the lead on 63 minutes. Callum Woodward ensured parity though when he made it 2-2 with 20 minutes remaining.
