Tuesday's First Division South action review

By David Watters

Coalville Town reduced the gap on EVO-STIK Northern Premier League First Division South leaders Stafford Rangers to 'just' thirteen points on Tuesday night with a 4-1 win at Communications Park over troubled Daventry Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Two goals in the last eight minutes of the first half from Callum Woodward and substitute Aaron Woodward helped Coalville complete an impressive `double` over Daventry after Alex Troke had given them a 27th minute lead from the penalty spot.

Things got worse for Daventry when striker Scott Cross was given a straight red card for a foul on Callam Woodward after 39 minutes, forcing them to play with ten-men for almost 50 minutes. Despite that, they did manage to score the only goal of the second half in stoppage time through Edilson Panzo-Antonio.

Shaw Lane Aquaforce remain three points behind the Ravens but have four games in hand after a 4-2 home win over mid-table Gresley FC.

On-loan striker James Walshaw gave Shaw Lane a 10th minute lead that Lee Bennett doubled 10 minutes later. An own goal by Jamie Barrett put the home side three-up just before the half-hour mark and seconds later it was game over when Gavin Allott added a fourth.

The Moatmen did manager to reduce the arrears by two in the second period, thanks to Albert Landsdowne and Martin Smyth.

Third-bottom Goole AFC hosted fourth-bottom Carlton Town at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds and fans saw Daniel Gordon strike nine minutes from time to earn the visitors three precious points with a 1-0 win.
