Tuesday's North and South action review

By David Watters

Shaw Lane AFC returned to the top of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division South table on Tuesday night after an emphatic 6-0 win at Ashby Avenue against Lincoln United, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

A brace of Ryan Qualter headers after seven and 16 minutes had the high-flying visitors firmly in command. Seven minutes into the second half, Gavin Allott made it 3-0. United had a chance to get back into the game soon afterwards, but Danny Brooks missed from the penalty spot.

He was punished further just before the hour-mark when Gary Burnett added Shaw Lane`s fourth and, despite the home side having two efforts cleared off the line, the visitors wrapped up a convincing win with a second for Allott after 64 minutes and then Spencer Harris five minutes later.

The only game in the First Division North on Tuesday saw Ramsbottom United remain a point in front of Droylsden in mid-table after the sides shared a 1-1 Butcher`s Arms draw.

Rammy led through Grant Spencer`s goal eight minutes before the break. But Jamie Frost`s penalty 20 minutes from time salvaged a draw for the Bloods.
