In front of a crowd of 982, Taddy moved up to eleventh place as Shields played one of their two games in hand on to go above Scarborough, but only by a point with goal difference being exactly the same.
Bamber Bridge moved level on points with Scarborough after a seventh game unbeaten in a 1-0 win at another of the play-off chasers, Glossop North End.
Brig weathered the storm of Hillmen attacks at Surrey Street and eventually broke the deadlock 10 minutes from time when Adam Dodd got the final touch after a swift breakaway.
Hyde United made it nine games without defeat and moved into fourth spot, three points behind Shields, after a comprehensive 5-1 Tameside derby win over Mossley AFC at Ewen Fields.
In front 327, Harry Coates gave the Tigers a great start with a goal inside two minutes at the far post from a great delivery from Big Khamsuk. Hyde went 2-0 up after 26 minutes when Dominic Marie chased a long ball and slotted past Lilywhites` keeper Oliver Martin. Liam Ellis managed to reduce the deficit right on the stroke of half-time.
However, shortly after the break, Mossley had defender Logan Jeffs sent-off for a second yellow card offence. Karl Jones scored a third for the Tigers on 76 minutes when the ball is dropped into him by Tom Pratt, and David Brown, who had just come on for Pratt, put the Tigers 4-1 up in the 88th minute. The nap hand was completed in stoppage time when Matty Beadle was fouled in the box and he got up to convert the resulting penalty.
Droylsden or Clitheroe could have moved into the top six when they met at the Butcher`s Arms. But it was the visitors who did so, leaving the Bloods in ninth, after a 3-0 win.
Brad Carroll gave the Blues an early eighth minute lead that Kurt Willoughby doubled 10 minutes later. Alex Newby then added a third for the visitors with still only 23 minutes gone on the clock.
And that was that, although the Bloods did have the chance for a consolation goal three minutes from time, but to compound a very disappointing night for them, Danny Ventre saw Clitheroe `keeper Chris Thompson save his spot-kick after Domaine Rouse had been brought down.
Skelmersdale United, who shared eight goals with Mossley last Saturday, suffered a 2-0 defeat at Ingfield against Ossett Town.
Martin Pembleton gave the hosts an 18th minute lead they eventually doubled 12 minutes from time through Craig Nelthorpe to collect the three points.
