Tuesday's North Division action review

By David Watters

Hyde United moved to within three points of leaders South Shields in the EVO-STIK League North table on Tuesday night with a 2-0 win over Kendal Town at Parkside, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Cumbrian hosts came into the game on the back of a bad run of seven games without a win, while the Tigers were looking to get back on track after losing to the leaders last weekend.

And goals at either end of the game sealed the points for the visitors. Hyde took an early sixth minute lead when David Brown drove a low ball across the six-yard box for Luke Porritt to beat Matt Johnson in the Mintcakes goal.

It was Johnson who prevented the visitors going further behind in the second half and Hyde also had an effort cleared off the line. But they finally killed the hosts off four minutes from time when a fine run by sub Big Khamsuk ended with Tom Pratt slotting the ball past the keeper.
