Tuesday's Premier Division action review

Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division

The only game in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division on Tuesday night saw mid-table sides Stafford Rangers and Buxton do battle at Marston Road, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The encounter certainly didn't have any mid-table mediocrity about it with four goals and three players sent off!

Rangers were looking for a response after a disappointing 2-2 draw at struggling Eastwood Town last Saturday but fell behind after only four minutes when Lee Morris headed home a cross from Neil Stevens. But Rangers were soon back on level terms as recent signing Karl Ashton set up Fabrice Kasiama to fire past Ian Deakin just six minutes later.

The home side took the lead two minutes before half-time when Kasiama unleashed a fine strike past Deakin. But Buxton hit back two minutes into time added on at the end of the half when Kieran Lugsden headed in from close range.

Rangers suffered a set-back five minutes into the second period when Luke George was sent-off for picking up a second yellow card but the numbers were evened up just four minutes later when Buxton’s Morris received a straight red for an alleged stamp on Jimmy Turner. Lugsden became the third player to be dismissed when he collected his second bookable offence eight minutes from time but the nine-men held on.
