Tuesday's Premier Division action review

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division

Once again the weather restricted Tuesday's action in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division to two out of the four scheduled matches, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

However, second-placed Hednesford Town's trip to Cumbria did survive and they earned a vital 3-1 win at Parkside to take them to within six points of leaders North Ferriby United with two games in hand.

Neil Harvey gave the Pitmen a great start with the opening goal after less than two minutes. And half an hour later it was 2-0, courtesy of Michael Lennon. Maison McGeechan reduced the deficit nine minutes into the second half, only for Elliott Durrell to make sure with the visitors third from the penalty spot after 67 minutes.

Defeat sees Kendal remain third-bottom, four points behind fourth-bottom Grantham Town who, however, have played five games more.

The only other game to go ahead was at the Weaver Stadium where Chorley improved their play-off hopes with a 1-0 win over hosts Nantwich Town.

Andrew Teague scored the only goal of the game just before half-time to leave the Magpies three points behind fifth-placed FC United of Manchester, whose game at Stocksbridge Park Steels was postponed, along with Matlock Town's home game with another high-flyer, AFC Fylde.
