Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division

Hednesford Town moved to within two points of leaders North Ferriby United in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Premier Division after easing to a 3-0 win against Blyth Spartans at Keys Park, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

A crowd of just over 500 saw Neil Harvey give the Pitmen a great start with the opening goal inside three minutes. But they had to wait until seven minutes into the second half for the second to arrive, courtesy of Kris Taylor. Michael Lennon made sure of the three points with a third 11 minutes later.

FC United of Manchester moved back up to third with a 6-0 victory over second-bottom Kendal Town in front of 1,517 at Gigg Lane. Greg Daniels helped himself to a hat-trick with goals on the nine, 73 and 85 minutes after Matthew Wolfenden had given the hosts a fourth minute lead. Rhodri Giggs on 25 minutes and Tom Greaves on 79 completed the rout.

Fourth met fifth at Wincham Park and swapped places on goal difference after AFC Fylde's 2-0 success. Sean Cooke gave the visitors a 28th minute lead that Adam Farrell doubled five minutes before the break. In front of a decent crowd of 421, Albion couldn't find a way past a resolute and impressive Fylde side who took home three vital points for the Coasters.

At the opposite end of the table, Stocksbridge Park Steels boosted their chances of staying up after their 2-0 Bracken Moor win over mid-table Stafford Rangers. Coupled with Kendal's defeat at FC United, thw win moved them six points clear of the bottom two. Alex Callery gave Steels a great start with the opening goal inside two minutes. Nick Swirad added a second eight minutes into the second half and they held firm for three vital points.

Nantwich Town secured a 2-1 Weaver Stadium win over Whitby Town, thanks to goals from Harry Clayton after 49 minutes and Ollie Devanney six minutes later – all after Graeme Armstrong had given the Seasiders a 42nd minute lead from the penalty spot.

And in the other game played on Tuesday, Frickley Athletic fought out a goalless draw against Worksop Town at Westfield Lane as the two teams met for the fifth time this season.
